Dr Ken Thorley, BVSc, MVS, MANZCVSc
Dr. Ken graduated from the University of Sydney in 1986. He worked in Australia for 5 years, then the UK for 2 years, before coming to Hong Kong to realise his vision as a practice owner, by founding Victoria Veterinary Clinics in 1992. Since that time, Ken has led a dedicated team of vets, nurses, and support staff to make Victoria one of the most established and trusted hospitals in Hong Kong.
Ken has always insisted on the importance of Continuing Professional Education for all staff, leading by example: In 2003, he completed a Masters in Medicine and Surgery from Murdoch University, before completing further courses in Ultrasound, Cardiorespiratory Medicine, Feline Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Radiology. In 2010 he was admitted, by examination, to the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in the subject of Medicine of Cats. He authored a chapter in a textbook about Zoonoses of Cats, and is a feline medicine consultant for the Veterinary Information Network (www.vin.com), providing advice to 50,000 veterinarians world-wide.
Ken continues to lead Victoria in its core values of integrity, compassion, and pursuit of excellence.

Dr Christopher Simpson BVSc, MANZCVSc
Christopher graduated from the University of Sydney in 1995. After a brief stint in general practice, he focussed on a career in small animal medicine. He became a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Small Animal Medicine in 2003, then completed a Residency in Canine and Feline Medicine at the University of Melbourne, which included externships in Cardiology and Oncology at Michigan State University.
Since initially joining Victoria in 2004, Christopher has become one of the most experienced small animal ultrasonographers in Hong Kong, having performed over 10,000 scans on dogs and cats over 20 years. He is highly experienced in both abdominal and cardiac ultrasound, and performs most of the complex and challenging scans for the clinic.
In additional to clinical work, Christopher is actively engaged in research and publication, having produced multiple peer-reviewed papers in the Australian Veterinary Journal, the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery, and book chapters in The Feline Patient, a textbook of feline medicine. He remains engaged in ongoing research projects with Hong Kong’s CityU and the University of Sydney.
In his spare time, Christopher has a passion for photography, especially animal photography, and exploring Hong Kong’s amazing trails and country parks.

Dr. Joyce Lau BVSs (Syd), MVM (Massey)
Dr. Joyce Lau graduated from the University of Sydney in 2005 and spent the first three years of her career practicing in Australia before returning home to settle in Hong Kong. With over two decades of dedicated experience in companion animal practice, Dr. Joyce is deeply committed to providing the highest standard of care for all her patients.
Dr Joyce successfully completed a Master of Veterinary Medicine at Massey University in 2021, providing her with the tools for managing some of the most complex and challenging cases Hong Kong has to offer. In addition, she has undertaken extensive additional training in diagnostic imaging, including abdominal and cardiac ultrasound.
Dr Joyce has also completed certified training in veterinary acupuncture, allowing her to integrate advanced diagnostics with holistic pain management modalities.
In her spare time, Joyce has a keen passion for international travel, photography, and exploring the outdoors. She is an avid diver with a deep interest in marine life, and enjoys capturing her adventures both below and above water.
Dr Edmund Wong BVSc MVS
Dr Ed completed Bachelor of Veterinary Science on scholarship at the University of Sydney in 2009 and has been practicing in Hong Kong since graduation.
While working at Victoria Vet Hospital, Dr Ed has worked both day and night shifts, including experience in the high-pressure setting of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine, dealing with one of the most demanding caseloads anywhere in the world. This has given Dr Ed vast experience and confidence in dealing with critically ill and unstable patients, and sparked a passion for continuing education in the areas of Surgery and Interventional Medicine.
Dr Ed completed a Master of Veterinary Science from Murdoch University in 2013, as well as additional qualifications in such diverse areas as abdominal ultrasound training (European School of Advanced Veterinary Studies, 2010), Soft Tissue Surgery (European School of Advanced Veterinary Studies, 2009-2025, SUB 3.0 (urethral bypass) training with Norfolk Vet Products (2025), minimally invasive (keyhole/laparoscopic) surgery (Chulalongkorn University) and Advanced orthopaedic (bone and fracture) surgery training (multiple AO courses)
Ed is currently studying towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery.
Dr. Jeremy Wearne BVSc, MANZCVS, MRCVS
Dr. Jeremy Wearne brings 27 years of dedicated small animal practice in Hong Kong. Growing up in Namibia, Dr. Jeremy developed an early love for animals that inspired his lifelong career in veterinary medicine. After earning his Bachelor of Veterinary Science from the University of Pretoria(1996), he began his veterinary journey in a remarkably unique role, serving as the lead veterinarian in Angola for a specialized canine unit trained to locate landmines. Following this work, he spent nearly three decades diagnosing and managing complex medical cases in Hong Kong.
Dr. Jeremy holds a Membership in Small Animal Medicine (MANZCVS) and has completed extensive postgraduate studies spanning abdominal and cardiac ultrasound, cardiology, ophthalmology, oncology, tropical diseases, and emergency medicine. His strong background in advanced diagnostics allows him to investigate challenging cases thoroughly and advocate for the best long-term health outcomes for his patients.
Dr. Jeremy is deeply committed to partnering with families to provide compassionate, clear, and evidence based care tailored to every stage of a pet’s life.
Visiting Surgical Specialist
Dr François SAULNIER DMV, DESChirPA, Dip.ECVS,ECVS
Dr François Saulnier is an internationally recognised Specialist in Small Animal Surgery with over 15 years of specialist surgical experience across Europe, Canada and Asia.
A graduate of the National Veterinary School of Maisons-Alfort in Paris, he completed advanced surgical training and a residency in Small Animal Surgery at the University of Liège, Belgium, becoming a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) in 2009. He is recognised as a Specialist in Small Animal Surgery by the ECVS, RCVS and in Hong Kong.
Dr Saulnier has worked in leading veterinary referral and multidisciplinary hospitals, held an academic position at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Canada, and contributed to veterinary education and scientific literature.
His clinical expertise covers orthopaedic surgery, neurosurgery, soft-tissue surgery and surgical oncology, with a particular focus on complex surgical cases and advanced techniques.
Now based in Hong Kong, Dr Saulnier founded Hong Kong Veterinary Specialty Services to provide high-quality specialist surgical care while working closely with local veterinarians and pet owners.
